Brocéliande forest walks: on foot, by bike or on horseback
On foot: signposted trails and legendary routes
Set off for a walk in the Brocéliande forest along signposted routes that combine nature and myth. On the classic side, the GR37 and GRP "Tour de Brocéliande" offer great day-long sections. For shorter loops, head for "Au Coeur de Brocéliande" (approx. 4km) around the abbey and pond at Paimpont, or the "Boucle des Mégalithes" (approx. 15km) linking menhirs and covered walkways near Monteneuf. The Canut valley (≈ 2.7 km) alternates between moorland, woods and meadows, while the "Clairière de Saint-Péran" (≈ 16 km) links chapels and valleys. The storytelling walks, led by storytelling guides, immerse young and old in the local imagination (Merlin, Viviane, Val-sans-Retour, Barenton Fountain).
By bike and on horseback: greenways, towpaths and bridleways
Two Voies Vertes cross the heart of Brocéliande, ideal for linking viewpoints and villages in complete safety. The towpath of the Canal de Nantes à Brest runs for 50km between Saint-Congard and Les Forges, perfect for a flat, scenic ride along the water. Around Ploërmel and Lac au Duc, the "Hydrangea Trail" (≈ 3 km) introduces visitors to 5,500 hydrangeas and 550 varieties from June to October; continue with the "Lac au Duc" loop (≈ 20-21 km) from the old railway station for an easy outing on a mountain bike. On horseback, the Tréhorenteuc riding centre offers accompanied rides for beginners and experienced riders, giving you the chance to explore forest paths and clearings gently.
